1000 Islands 2-day tournament 9/10/2011

This tournament was located at the same location as my previous 1000 Islands tournament. And, it started off better then my first one also, considering I didn't get a speeding ticket, I picked my Canadian license up without any problems and my boater had his Canadian fishing license. With that said lets get to fishing!!

My morning started off with a decent run to a spot that my boater had been catching some fish in which was on the Canadian side. Once we arrived, we dropped our lines and began to fish. Our plan that day was to fish mainly drop shot. So, we fished his first spot for about an hour or two but we caught nothing, so we packed up our gear and moved on to another spot. When we arrived to our new hole I rigged up my drop shot with a green plastic worm and tossed it out. Within a few jerks of my wrist I hooked into a smallmouth that I thought could possibly keep. After a brief fight I brought the fish into the boat and realized that there was a great possibility that it wouldn't keep. So I unhooked the fish and got the measuring board out. I placed the fish on the board and unfortunately it was about a half and inch short, so I tossed him back. After I tossed the fish back I noticed that my hook was stuck in the carpet. Which at that time I unhooked it from the carpet and threw it in the water. But when I threw my hook into the water I instantly noticed that something was wrong. The reason I got that feeling was because my hook and sinker went straight down as if my pole was at the bottom of the lake. Well I turned around to grab my pole and it was at the bottom of the lake.

A little while later after losing my pole I ended up hooking into a keeper which would in the end put me in 38th place on the leaders chart but not allow me to fish the second day of the tournament. But being in 38th place was a big accomplishment for me because only the top 40 make it to the regional finals.
